What's the difference between entity SEO and entity optimization?

Do knowledge panels still matter after Google's 2026 Knowledge Graph purge?
More than before. Google deleted roughly 3 billion entities, about 6% of the Knowledge Graph, precisely because it now uses the graph as grounding data for AI Overviews and AI Mode. Weak, uncorroborated entities got culled; sourced ones survived and became more authoritative. The panel is alive and the bar to earn one went up, which is exactly why deliberate entity work pays.
Can you guarantee a knowledge panel?
No, and nobody honest can: rendering a panel is Google's call, not a form you submit. What we build is eligibility, and brands with verified Wikidata items are 3.2 times more likely to get one. If a vendor guarantees a panel for a flat fee, that's a red flag worth walking from.
Do I need a Wikipedia page for entity SEO?
No. Wikipedia helps when notability genuinely supports it, but entities routinely consolidate from Wikidata, schema, and corroborating citations alone. Wikidata has no notability threshold for verifiable entities, which makes it the more accessible path, and forcing a doomed Wikipedia page can hurt more than help.
How long does entity optimization take?
