Topical authority is the signal that you cover a subject with depth and breadth a single page cannot fake: comprehensive, interlinked clusters of content that, taken together, mark you as a source that genuinely knows the domain. Where one page answers one prompt, a cluster answers the whole neighborhood of related prompts and connects them, and both engines and their rankers read that completeness as trust.

This matters more in the answer era than it did for classic SEO, because of query fan-out: one prompt silently explodes into dozens of sub-queries, and a comprehensive cluster gives you an entry point into far more of that hidden sub-space than an isolated page ever could.
